BANDIT - WILD WOOL RUG
This beautiful Wild Felted Living Wool rug is from one of my boys called Bandit.
The nature of these rugs means they look like sheepskins, but the sheep is still alive in my flock and munching away on pasture to grow next years fleece for me. I use the ancient felting technique (I teach this method in workshops and online) to create a strong, resilient yet flexible backing which is just as hardy as leather in many ways. On the long fleece side It is soft, fluffy and an enchanting myriad of colours from white, brown, black with flecks of copper and silver.
The rug is not only large coming in at: 150 cm x 135cm, he is probably the thickest, heaviest rug i've ever made!! My back sure felt it when pulling it out of the water wash ouch ha! It weighs around 4 kilos! This is perfect for snuggling into on your bed or sofa, fireside or lounge rug. It would also be an incredible campbed or natural travel bed instead of plastic thermarest mats, especially as so many are converting to van living this will be the most luxurious mattress for many years to come! Because these are hand made and natural felted fleeces they respond differently to the felting process. Each fleece has it's own individual characteristics in texture, sheen, lock length and density. Some fleeces will also shed more than others, which is normal. They will give you many years of use. This rug is pure wool, no leather, and the sheep is still alive.
The rugs and felts have an essence of nature about them. They are wild, rugged and yet incredibly soft, warm and durable. They reflect the colours of the Earth in all its diversity and therefore every item is bespoke and individual with no two being the same, focusing on organic and environmentally friendly creation.
CARE
The wild wool rugs are handmade using 100% pure, organically raised wool and crafted using organic methods and natural, chemical free soap. Sponge clean or soak overnight in eco wash detergent, then drip dry.
DO NOT put in the washing machine or agitate too much or the rug will felt into a ball!
