BROCH - WILD LEATHER SHEEPSKIN

This is a magical SHETLAND wool, ghost white sheepskin, with a few underlayers of fawn/grey around the neck and legs , naturally and traditionally tanned over many hours, using traditional,  ancestral methods, organically reared and hand made leather sheepskin. 
 
The hide is 120 x 100 cm. The hide weighs over 2kg so see shipping below. 
 
Honouring the life of the sheep and the ancient art of hide tanning by bringing back the spirit of the animal through this endangered craft. 
 
This sheepskin would make the perfect fireside rug, within a yurt, tipi or shepherds hut. Also draped over the sofa, or perhaps by the bedside. I also have customers who use these for wild camping as they are so much warmer than synthetic and very light to carry. They have also been used for horse saddle mats and cool motorbike seat covers!
 
*NOTE: This sheepskin has some yellow tinges to the wool on outer edges which is lanolin but because i don't chemically bleach the hides the natural colours still remain. This is a traceable hide, ethically reared and not mass produced. It has been carefully cured, tanned, stretched and oiled by my own hands using traditional, ancient methods and no chemicals or machines. The sheepskin will also have a more tangible, aged and rustic look and feel to it as this is not a commercially produced product. This is a rare and disappearing craft that I hope finds it’s way into your home!
